Laboratory Peptide Research
Semax
Semax is a lab-made peptide consisting of seven amino acids. Its structure is based partly on a small section of ACTH, a naturally occurring signaling hormone.
Semax does not contain the complete ACTH hormone. Researchers study the smaller peptide to examine how it interacts with signaling pathways involved in nerve-cell communication and the way cells respond to stress.
Laboratory research also examines changes involving BDNF and NGF. These are proteins that help researchers understand the growth, maintenance, and communication of nerve cells.
